Review - Participation at the Legal Innovation Challenge 2023

On May 12 and 13, the 5th Legal Innovation Challenge, the largest on-site interdisciplinary hackathon on legal innovation in the DACH region, took place in Stuttgart.

Over two days, interdisciplinary teams of students from law, business, and computer science, as well as professionals from business units and legal departments of established organizations, developed digital solutions to real-world business problems.

Coaches from law firms, legal departments as well as from OMM Solutions accompanied the teams from the understanding of the problem to the pitch in front of the jury!

For Eissmann, Halil Eryilmaz from Purchasing and Thomas Fischer from Sales were participants in the teams! In the future, both employees will also work on the digitalization of processes and workflows in an interdisciplinary working group of the Eissmann Group Automotive.

Even though both participants do not work in the legal department, it was very interesting to gain an insight into other areas of responsibility and to try out modern forms of work and better understand digitization developments. It was particularly exciting to experience which working methods are necessary to collaborate effectively and successfully on solutions. "For example, it is very exciting to see how internal processes are designed and how such processes are translated into digital work tools for employees," said Thomas and Halil.

Together with other participants, working groups were formed for the Innovation Challenge, in which an approach to a given previously unknown problem had to be developed. To familiarize quickly with an unfamiliar subject area, to approach it in a solution-oriented way with previously unknown colleagues and to implement it at high speed was very challenging. Halil and Thomas agree that such working methods and additional digital work platforms have added value for the Eissmann Group Automotive, for example, for the faster and more effective preparation of offers in purchasing or sales.

In the future, Halil and Thomas will take a more critical look at the processes and ways of working in their departments in order to improve traditional ways of working by working more effectively and achieving better results more quickly.

We are certain that there is potential for optimization at Eissmann Group Automotive, confirms Dr. Frank Straile, Vice President Corporate Legal & Chief Compliance Officer, who once again participated in the Challenge as a coach. Eissmann needs to think disruptively in order to develop new ideas for modern, sustainable and attractive working environments. Everyone should ask themselves in their day-to-day work what can be fundamentally changed to make work processes even smarter.

One of several new projects at Eissmann Group Automotive will be the digitalization of contract life cycle management. We are looking forward to contributing our experience from the Innovation Challenge to these future projects.
